FAU recognises Dr. Dr. Jens Kirchner for excellent quality in teaching
FAU would like to recognise outstanding commitment and excellent quality in teaching thus emphasising the importance of teaching alongside research. It therefore set up an annual University-wide teaching award in 2016 that recognises outstanding achievements in teaching. With this award, successful teachers are recognised with faculty-wide and also state-wide prizes in teaching. More info here.
Dr. Dr. Jens Kirchner from Institute for Electronics Engineering (LTE) und associate postdoctoral researcher in out IRTG Project A received one of this years prices! In the laudatory speech he has been recognized as follows (German):
„Dr.
In July 2022, Jens Kirchner and Sebastian Meyer published the book “Scientific Working Techniques for STEM Fields” (“Wissenschaftliche Arbeitstechniken für die MINT-Fächer”). What was initially a collection of slides for students with tips and typical mistakes of their theses, quickly developed into an official course (Wissenschaftliche Arbeitstechniken für Ingenieure und Naturwissenschaftler (WAIN)) from which the book was finally developed.
The goal of the book is to teach the basic techniques of scientific work that students need when writing theses and later doctoral dissertations. Special novelty value offers the interpretation for subjects of engineering and natural sciences as well as computer science and mathematics. Topics covered in the book include literature research and citation, outlining and structuring, displaying information, presenting, and especially the implementation of all this in LaTeX.
