Within the IGK 2495 Qualification Programme, doctoral researchers are expected to go to the partner institute for a research stay of 6 to 12 months. This reciprocal exchange of doctoral researchers is a central part of this international research training group. These research stays are embedded in the individual projects as a mechanism to conduct research tasks not available at the home university. The doctoral researchers are receiving cultural training (https://www.igk2495.fau.de/qualification-program/japanese-cultural-program/). In addition to cultural workshops, IGK 2495 in collaboration with the FAU Department of Japanese Studies has developed manuals to provide doctoral researchers from both sides with a written guide for extended research visits.
